Grandma's Kimchi began as more than a food business. It began as a way to honor a remarkable woman.

I was raised largely by my grandmother, who passed away in 2022. She was an entrepreneur who owned and operated multiple restaurants in Korea, but what I remember most wasn't her success. It was her generosity. She quietly helped students who were struggling financially and believed that caring for others was one of life's greatest responsibilities.

Cooking was how she expressed that love.

She spent years studying Korean royal cuisine, Japanese cuisine, and other traditional culinary arts, building on recipes and traditions that had already been passed down through generations of our family. In our home, preparing food was never simply about feeding people. It was about bringing them together, preserving tradition, and showing love through every meal.

One lesson she taught me has stayed with me my entire life: good food is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to care for others.

Years later, while pursuing my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at New York University, my life changed unexpectedly. Losing my grandmother while facing serious health challenges forced me to step away from the future I had planned. During that difficult season, I found myself returning to the values she had instilled in me throughout my life.

Together, my husband and I founded Grandma's Kimchi to carry her legacy forward.

Every batch we make reflects the recipes, care, and generosity that have shaped our family for generations. We believe authentic Korean food should be made with patience, respect for tradition, and ingredients you can feel good about sharing around your own table.

We hope our kimchi becomes more than just a side dish. We hope it brings family and friends together, creates new memories, and reminds us of the values my grandmother lived every day. Sharing good food is one of the most meaningful ways to care for one another.
